Hi there.
So I've been having sort of a difficult week. Not anything extreme. Just a bit different than most. I've had to take my life and look at it as a whole, to see what isn't working. Sometimes we need to stop. Look around. Re evaluate everything. How we got here, etc. If everything is good- by all means, keep on doing what your doing. For me- unfortunately, I have had a problem with my thyroid for quite some time now. Somewhere around the age of 12, I think. Regardless. It's always been a known thing, I have hypothyroid. Basically a 'low' thyroid. Under active, etc. I'm nowhere near overweight or anything like that. However, being 27 years old, and thinking back to how I've felt over the past few years- hasn't been extremely energetic. I've made huge lifestyle changes in those years as well. I eat crazily better. Like crazy better. The tricky thing is, better can be bad in some cases. Now what I am saying here - is simply my own research, my own advice, my own problem. I'm not saying you have it- not saying you should try anything. This is just me ranting. I'm not a Doctor, so please if you have any questions, consult with a doctor first. K, now that we got that out of the way. I used to eat crap. Fast food- sodas, fake foods, etc. You get it. Then suddenly when I went to college, it finally hit me I needed to change. So I completely changed my diet. I ate salads? Salads? What is that?!! Haha. If it didn't have loads of ranch on it , I didn't know what a salad was! But I learned to eat them- without dressing, might I add! Anyway, as I evolved and learned more and more - I changed my bread to only ezekiel breads, it's a sprouted grain. I don't shop at any regular grocery store anymore. Meaning, I don't buy commercial products. I do still get essential things that they sell universally, etc. I'm just saying- the things in my fridge/kitchen, you can't find at a regular grocery store. Their usually only sold at specialty stores or health stores. Thats how much I've changed. Before- you would never catch me concerned about any of this! Now after all of this time- making sure I eat kale, spinach, green smoothies, things that are raw, etc. For my health, mind you. This just goes to show you the power of plants I guess. Not saying ANYTHING bad at all about them. Believe me- I love them :( Apparently if you have a thyroid issue (especially hypo-thyroid) there is a chemical in certain veggies, (cruciferous veggies) ie. cauliflower, kale, spinach, broccoli. And many many many more. This particular chemical, messes up and effects hypothyroid even more. You just don't understand how hard that is to hear :( I mean maybe you do, given the name of my website and all :'( At first, I wanted to find a way around this. Cause for me, without those vegetables, what do I eat? I literally eat those everyday. Everyday. And they mean so much to me. I thought that was being healthy was vegetables. Especially for me. A Vegan/Vegetarian/Pescetarian. Ahh whatever, I'm not titling myself anything! I just don't eat certain things! Ha. Anywho. What I'm very sad about is how I will have to dramatically change my diet. But at the same time, looking on the bright side- this will be fun. This is new. It's different. It's a change. And obviously it's going to be a change for the better- cause soon I will probably feel better than I thought possible! So the things I've researched for myself that I need to avoid are as followed. -Cruciferous Vegetables -Soy -Corn -Gluten As I've said before- the focus can't be on what you can't have. Even more so the focus has to be on the outcome. How much it really means to you. Your strength. I know I can do this. Cause I love myself and I do want this to not be a problem anymore. So if that means I have to stop eating my favorite veggies and keep them only at twice a week, then okay. There are a whole bunch of other veggies I can have. And I am not going on medication. SO. Therefore with diet/exercise we can reverse any health issues we have. And that is what I am going to do. So I wrote this post- mainly because I wanted to update you on me- I like sharing my life with you. If we all put ourselves out there- we give the chance of connecting with someone on their journey, and possibly helping one another. Thats why I titled this "No one is Alone" :). Also because when I think of the lyrics to that song, their very empowering. I feel good already, just thinking about how good I'll feel in a month, after changing my lifestyle, letting it sit in- and then reading this post and thinking wow, I feel so much better than I did when I wrote that! :) I'll leave you with some amazing lyrics from the song. But you should definitely look it up and listen to it! Can't wait til the movie comes out on christmas day this year ! "Mother cannot guide you. Now you're on your own. Only me beside you. Still, you're not alone. No one is alone. Truly. No one is alone. Sometimes people leave you. Halfway through the wood. Others may decieve you. You decide whats good. You decide alone. But no one is alone." "No one Is Alone" - Into The Woods
